Many of our favorite TV shows have elaborate final episodes. It remains a subject for debate whether these finales are justifiable or even necessary. Last night ER faded to black for the last time.
Here's What I think: Last night's series finale was perfectly constructed. There are even some threads that can be knitted into a new series should NBC not find anything worthy to try to grab our ever shorter attention spans with. There were no gimmicks, just another emergency for the doctors to deal with.
I have very fond memories of series finales. Cheers, M*A*S*H, and most memorably Newhart still have a large piece of nostalgic honor in my heart for their wonderful finales. As long as the shows' writers don't try too hard and end up insulting their audience, finales can be whatever they are.
I would like to have some feedback on your favorite series finales of all time. Perhaps more importantly, the ones that you found too insulting, the ones that ultimately lowered your opinion of the show.
